July 2010

In 2010 local societies from Lowton (LOADS) and neighbouring Newton (NADOS) joined together for a one off spectacular musical production of Jack the Ripper, by Ron Pember in association with Samuel French Ltd.

Society member Mike Morris (Pictured right) was nominated in the NODA NW awards for best actor after his portrayal of Daniel Mendoza.

The awards were presented at the annual conference in Blackpool on May 2nd.

Based upon the old stories of Jack the Ripper, this musical show production tells the story of 19th century london life through the eyes of a 19th century Music Hall audience and is full of toe tapping musical numbers, cockney locals, an over enthusiastic Music Hall compere and a few prostitutes thrown in, not forgetting of course Jack the Ripper himself.

The show ran from Wed 14th July to Sat 17th July 2010 at the Lowton Rose Centre (Civic Hall)
